LOS ANGELES WORLD CUP 2026 GUIDE

7 min read·Updated May 2026

Los Angeles brings Hollywood glamour to the World Cup stage. SoFi Stadium in Inglewood is one of the most stunning purpose-built sports arenas in the world. With 7 matches scheduled, LA is a must-visit city for any fan travelling to the western United States.

THE STADIUM: SOFI STADIUM, INGLEWOOD

SoFi Stadium has a capacity of 70,240 and is the most technologically advanced stadium in North America. The roof is a translucent canopy rather than a full enclosure, giving a unique blend of indoor comfort and outdoor atmosphere. The stadium is home to both the LA Rams and LA Chargers.

The stadium is in Inglewood, approximately 27km southwest of Downtown Los Angeles and 5km from LAX. It sits within the Hollywood Park entertainment district, with restaurants, shops, and a hotel on-site.

GoalPass Tips

  • The Metro K Line (Crenshaw Line) connects from Downtown LA to SoFi Stadium — fastest option on matchday
  • Rideshare pickup is designated to specific zones — follow the app exactly
  • SoFi is cashless. Bring a card or set up Apple/Google Pay
  • Stadium bags must be clear (12" x 6" x 12" max) or a small clutch (4.5" x 6.5")

GETTING AROUND LOS ANGELES

LA is a car city and traffic is notoriously bad, particularly on the 405 and 10 freeways during rush hours (07:00–09:00 and 16:00–19:00). For matchday travel, use the Metro K Line where possible — it runs directly from Downtown to SoFi and avoids all traffic.

For general city exploration, rideshare is the most practical option. Renting a car is recommended only if you plan to visit areas not served by Metro (Malibu, Santa Barbara).

  • Metro K Line to Inglewood/SoFi: ~45 min from Downtown, $2.50
  • Rideshare from West Hollywood: 20–45 min depending on traffic
  • GoalPass matchday coach from hotel areas: pre-booked only
  • Uber/Lyft surge on matchday: allow 3–5× standard pricing

WHERE TO STAY

West Hollywood (WeHo) and Beverly Hills are the premium base options — great dining, iconic bars, close to the Sunset Strip, and manageable distance to SoFi. The 1 Hotel West Hollywood is GoalPass's top recommendation for premium travellers.

Santa Monica is excellent for beach-adjacent relaxation and is well-served by rideshare. Downtown LA is increasingly vibrant and more affordable. Avoid Inglewood itself as a base — it is stadium-adjacent but lacks dining and nightlife.

GoalPass Tips

  • LA hotels require booking many months in advance for World Cup weeks
  • Airbnb can offer good value for groups — search Silverlake, Echo Park, and Los Feliz
  • Ask GoalPass to combine hotel + SoFi matchday transport for a seamless experience

FAN ZONES & LA ATMOSPHERE

The LA Live complex in Downtown will host the official Fan Zone with capacity for 20,000 fans. LA Live already has bars, restaurants, and giant screens, making it the natural hub for fans not at the stadium.

The beach cities — Santa Monica, Venice, Manhattan Beach — will have informal watch parties at beach bars and restaurants. Brazilian and Argentine communities in the San Fernando Valley will have their own fan hubs.

PRACTICAL TIPS FOR LA

LA weather in June–July is ideal: 25–32°C, sunny, almost zero rain. Evenings can be cool near the ocean — bring a light layer. Sunscreen is essential for any daytime activity.

  • Tipping: 18–20% restaurants, $2 per drink, $1–5 per valet
  • Driving: Waze is better than Google Maps for real-time traffic
  • Food: LA has the best Mexican food outside Mexico — do not leave without a taco
  • Beaches: Santa Monica Pier is touristy; Manhattan Beach and El Segundo are better for locals
  • Safety: Stick to tourist areas in Hollywood and Santa Monica; ask your hotel about local safety
